A pharmacist with over 15 years
experience in managing clinical research, Carolyn started her career at
Roussel Laboratories in the late 1980s. In the following decade, she spent
seven years as Clinical Research Manager at Bayer Healthcare, heading a
team of 11 monitors and support personnel. At the time, this was one of
the largest Medical Departments in the country’s pharmaceutical industry. Whoever said that pharmaceutical research is a small world was not wrong - Carolyn’s predecessor at Bayer was Triclinium’s present MD, Victor Strugo! Between these two industry appointments, Carolyn was instrumental in setting up South Africa’s first ever CRO, Clindepharm International (now Quintiles-Clindepharm). From 1999, she spent 5 years as Clinical Operations Manager at PPD Development. Reporting directly to UK Head Office, she built up PPD’s African office from only a few people to almost 50 staff. Says Victor: “Carolyn joins us as the most CRO-experienced of all our managers. Her vast experience at a global level in the highly competitive world of contract research will significantly increase our competitive edge. She also brings strong people skills and sound technical knowledge that will be of great value as we upgrade Triclinium’s processes and implement up-to-date system enhancements.”
